Everything’s Better with A Little Sugar…
Ponies – love ‘em or hate ‘em, they’re the cutest part of any show. Read about one of HH’s FAVORITE ponies, Sugar Rush, and her equally adorable kiddo, Haley Honneger.

HH: Tell us about your pony, Sugar Rush.
HH: Sugar Rush is a 6 year old imported French Welsh pony. Her barn name is Brisotte and her favorite treats are apples.
HH: How long have you and Sugar Rush been a team? How did you find each other?
HH: We have been a team for about eight months. We found her at a barn in Switzerland that had three ponies, and I saw her and she was the right one to pick because she was looking like “I can go high.” She took care of me and I liked her a lot, so now she’s mine!
HH: What do you currently show in?
HH: We normally show in the .85M but in Scottsdale we did the .70M to learn to make inside turns. She goes fast no matter the class. I’ve jumped her really high at home!
HH: What makes Sugar Rush such a great addition to your barn?
HH: Sugar Rush is a great addition because we never had a bay pony that jumped high before. She makes the barn a wonderful place because everyone likes to pet and see her because they like her cute face. (Author’s note – this pony is impossible to ignore! MUST.PET.PONY…)
HH: Does Sugar Rush have any quirks or goofy traits? How is she around the barn?
HH: She has a great manners and likes to play with my other pony Sassafrass and my rodeo pony Snickers.
HH: What are your goals for the rest of the year and beyond with Sugar Rush?
HH: My goals are to go from the .80M to the .90M this year and then next year to move up to the 1.0M. My pony has done a couple 1.10M classes so I think we can do it together, eventually.
HH: What successes have you shared with Sugar Rush? Anything in particular you are especially proud of?
HH: I am proud that we work together and we figure out the courses. We both tell each other what we are feeling. We did well at the Horse Park shows and we just won some classes in Scottsdale.
HH: What do you enjoy most about riding Sugar Rush?
HH: I like that she is a cute pony, and I like everything about her. She is brave, she is curious and she takes care of me and she’s fun to play with.
HH: If Sugar Rush was a teenager, which table would she sit at in the cafeteria and why?
HH: This is a tough question for a kid like me! My mom said she’d be a foreign exchange student!
HH: What are Sugar Rush’s Favorite treats?
HH: Apples – my mom gives her an apple every time she comes out of the ring.
HH: Anything else we should know about your pony?
HH: She likes to go on trail rides with me and my friends, she is very brave. She also likes to roll all the time. Her favorite colors are pink and purple… so we always have her wear those colors.
