Kristina Matthews

Founder

Kristina was born and raised in Colorado and started riding at the age of 4 with Wilson Dennehy at Arapahoe Riding Club. She showed ponies and equitation until the age of 13 when she became enamored with saddle horses and saddle seat riding and switched disciplines.  Kristina showed Arabians and Half Arabians in both Saddle Seat Equitation and Park through college earning the Canadian National Champion AO Driving Horse Championship with her trainer and long time mentor, Van Robinson. Upon returning from Chapman University in California she decided to go back to hunt seat and started a new career in the jumper ring.

Kristina has been a fixture in the Colorado Horse community, having served on the CHJA Board of Directors for several years. She has also owned a retail boutique and worked as the fashion editor for the award winning Horse Connection Magazine. She continues to show her horse, Neolisto Van Het Mierenhof, winning multiple Zone, regional, and state championships in the AA Jumper ring and rides with renowned Grand Prix Rider John McConnell.

Kristina felt that Colorado, as a whole, was lacking a central resource for the hunter/jumper community to find information on events, sales, news and facilities. Hence, The Hacked Horse- Colorado was born.

Ryan Saunders

Business Strategist

Ryan was born and raised in Colorado. His mother had grown up on a farm that bred and trained race horses and thus passed her love of horses onto him. He learned to ride at a summer camp in the 6th grade. Although it took him a little longer to find the hunter/jumper world but once he did, he was hooked.

He decided to attend the University of Denver so he could continue to ride and show. Ryan has successfully shown his horses in the low and high AA jumpers throughout college and after. While his horse, Player, is now happily retired, Ryan is still ingrained in the horse community through the very close relationship he has developed over the years.

Ryan is incredibly excited to be apart of The Hacked Horse- Colorado. It is a much needed resource that has never existed in Colorado and will do great things for the hunter/jumper community.

Jessie Koerner

Featured Columnist

Jessie is a native of Parker, Colorado, and has been in the saddle for the past 25 years. While she’s dabbled in the hunter and equitation rings, her heart belongs in Jumper Land.  You can see her hanging on for dear life in the A/O jumpers aboard her unicorn, Carraway. She also has two retired jumpers that reside at Terolyn Horse Rescue who cause all sorts of trouble. Her day job is working in communications and public affairs.

Kristina McCombie

Featured Columnist

Kristina McCombie has been an avid equestrian in Colorado for the past 30 years. She grew up riding in short stirrup and finished out her junior years in the Junior Hunters and big eqs. During college she rode intercollegiately for the University of Colorado, finishing 8th nationally her senior year. Currently, she has an adult hunter whom she absolutely adores and rides with Jill Pelzel at Fall River Farm. They are pretty consistent contenders in the AA hunters and occasionally step into the low AOs when she puts her “big girl panties” on. Day-to-day, she is a kindergarten teacher in Arvada, and absolutely loves her career.
